The star rating question has an x for the 0/5 choice. Turns out that its not even selectable when I tested it. Seems pointless. Anyone know what is the rationale for having the X (0/5) that’s not even selectable?
Amazon uses a simple 1-5 star rating with 5 stars that everyone seems to understand. Can we emulate this presentation?

You are correct in that there is not a 0 option for the star ranking question. The rating range is from 1 to 5 stars. If no stars are selected, this is not counted as a 0 but rather counted as unanswered.

Well then the 0/5 roll-over bubble help thingy is misleading. “Clear” would be better. You are now saying that there is no such thing as 0/5 rating, only 1-5. correct?

Colin – if the question was required then it would force an answer to be given. If it was unrequired and left blank – the data would not be counted. It may be a good idea if you review the document about it at this point.
Justin So no ranking = 0/5 ? That would mean that if the customer simply left it blank (skipped) it would be counted as 0 and averaged as such in the reports? Not good. Please clarify thanks Colin

Thanks for the question! The ‘X’ is there is allow a respondent to clear out their answer from a star ranking question. You will notice that if you chose to give a ‘1 Star Rank’ for a specific question and then decide to you wanted to give a ‘0 Star Rank’ for the same question, you would be unable to simply remove the star. So, we built the ‘X’ there to allow for the question to be completely cleared out.
