[Solved] [Standard Report Missing Features] Add Export/Print option to shared Standard Reports

5

We’re listening! In March we created the Standard Report and announced the pending plan to sunset the Summary Report. We’ve been getting a ton of great feedback regarding what you need to see in the Standard Report before we officially sunset the Summary Report (we do not have a scheduled date for this as of now). We have been churning out features in the Standard Report and decided we needed to give you some visibility into the process.

We’re creating Known Issues posts for outstanding features and functionality that multiple users have said they miss.

This Post’s Missing Feature: Add Export/Print option to shared reports

This post was created based on the feedback from a number of customers who asked that we add the export/print option to shared Standard Reports.

    Hi all,

Thank you for your feedback and patience! We just released a feature to allow your end users to download your shared reports via PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word!

Take a look at our Help article on the topic:

Please email support@sgizmo.com with any questions!

    Best regards,

      • Great this has been added, but I’m hitting an error with export to Word – it says ‘We’re sorry. We can’t open export-####.doc because we found a problem with its contents.’ Not sure if this is just a problem for me, or others too? Other export formats look to work fine.

      • Hi Katie,

Thank you for your note, and sorry for this trouble! Are you still seeing issues with the Word Download? If so, we can certainly take a closer look.

If you can email support@sgizmo.com with the details of this issue (the survey and report that are being affected), we can investigate!

This is an absolute priority for us, needed ASAP – we simply can’t share our reports without giving people the option to download/print them – hence we have been holding off any reporting development until this is available within the new reports.  Please prioritise! Thanks.

I can download to PDF (but with errors — reduced size graphics and over-printing of Word Clouds and response listings), can get the ‘pivot table’ in Excel, but the Word document a gibberish. This is an essential element for me — if I cannot download a clean report I will need to switch to another product.

Excel or CSV are the formats I need.

My customers want to be able to modify the documents, cut and paste to Powerpoint or other Excel sheets, reorder rows, or recalculate percentages.

PDF is not ideal for my customers.

Date filtering is not that useful to my customers. They want to see the totals of a survey, not a point in time.

I would however like the shared reports to allow customers to filter reports on other questions in the survey or specific collector links.

Agree that we need ability to download shared reports. My preference is Excel.

              • Thanks for your feedback Amy. We have a lot of customers that are looking for us to add this functionality back.

We recently discussed how we would implement this as generating PDFs is quite resource intensive and, with the addition to the new option to allow shared report viewers to filter by date, we could be generating A LOT of PDFs. As such, what we are thinking about doing is allowing an either-or option to allow share report viewers to either 1) date filter or 2) download the report to PDF.

We’re interested in hearing what folks think about this; would this work for you?

                • Well, to be honest both would be nice, but if not possible, then we could work with what you propose. We would always choose the download/print option (primarily to PDF, but other options i.e. Excel, Word would be useful too), as we know the people we have viewing this data will need to be able to export it etc. and it will be of very limited use without that functionality.

The date filters are useful, but if need be we could create variations of the report relating to different periods and schedule them, which would probably suffice.

The ideal would in fact be for us to be able to define a small number of custom fields the viewer could then use to filter the data on – but I guess that is probably wishful thinking!!

                  Thanks

                • Thank you for following up on this Katie.

This is very helpful feedback and certainly appreciated. Your ideal scenario sounds like a sort of reporting ‘dashboard’ offering the end user more control of how they see the data – I’m afraid this is not in our immediate plans at this time.

Please stay tuned for updates regarding exports of shared reports!

                  Thank you again!
