I have been looking over this article on Secure Survey Links. I am curious if anyone has experience with switching survey links from “Normal” to “Secure”. Some questions that I have:
1. Does this affect in progress responses at all?
2. Will in progress responses be able to use the http links still? Or will they be redirected to https?
3. Are there any features that aren’t compatible with Secure links?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
I was a bit curious about your question so I did a bit of testing on a sample survey that I have.
This does not appear to impact in progress responses. If I start responding via a normal link and the survey administrator changes to secure, I continue in my normal link.
I don’t believe there is a compatibility concern with secure links. The only times compatibility would come into play would be if you have ‘encrypted’ your survey (you would typically use SSL links if encrypting data).
I assume you are asking because your are considering updating a link on a live survey?
If so, if I were to do this I would probably close the survey for just a little bit of time while I make the change (just to minimize risk to in-progress respondents).
In a perfect world, I would create a new tracking link, close the initial link, and distribute a new secure link (not sure if that is an option for you).
