[Solved] Reversing a slider item

I want to reverse slider items leaving the Strongly Disagree and Strongly Agree labels intact and the numbers not visible on the slider.

The image below shows 3 items… the last is reversed by adjusting the scale from 100 (starting value) to 1(ending value), but the scale doesn’t move by increments like the other item.. it simply moves from end to end of the slider.  Also see that where the first two items start at 50, the last does not even though I set it to start at 50.

Don’t want the respondent to realize the scale has shifted.. but I do want the items reverse scored.

Has someone done this?  What can be done here?  Thank you!

Hi Kathy! There is actually a setting available for Slider questions that will allow you to reverse the scale exactly as you are looking for 🙂

This is found by editing your slider question, and going to the Layout tab. Under “Slider Display”, you should see an option titled “Flip the min and max values” – select that option, and your scale will be flipped.

The reason adjusting the scale from 100 (starting value) to 1 (ending value) did not work is because the software is trying to count “up” from 100 to 1. The starting value should always be less than the ending value for the slider to increment properly.

I hope this information is helpful!
