Passing URL Data Through Mailchimp Merge Codes

0

I use Mailchimp as my primary mailing list service and I recently began using SurveyGizmo as my survey tool. What I would like to do is pass through the email listed in the MailChimp list so that my participants don’t need to re-enter their email every single time.

I know I can set up a variable in the URL such as ’email=’. Typically I would do this and just append ?email=*|EMAIL|* in the link I send to my participants and that would pass through their correct email. When I do this, however, it properly adds the email to the address but doesn’t pass through properly into the survey.

For instance, http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/…/…?email=*|EMAIL|* when used in Mailchimp would allow the participant to use http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/…/…?email=participant@email.com (which it does), but doesn’t seem to properly pass data.

Am I doing something wrong here, or is this not supported? Thanks!

Based on what you have mentioned, you do appear to be setting things up correctly and this should work.

Can you clarify what you mean by “doesn’t seem to properly pass data”? For example, what you are looking to do with the email address once it’s passed into SurveyGizmo? Should the email be populated as the answer to a question? If so, this should help:

This help article should also be a good reference:

Feel free to clarify further if I missed something!

P.S. SurveyGizmo also has a MailChimp Integration which is likely another way of solving your issue:

    Hope this helps!
