Merge Codes does not work

1

Hi,

I created a campaign and added these codes:

<p>session: [survey(“session id”)]<br />
id: [survey(“id”)]<br />
messageid: [invite(“messageid”)]<br />
guid: [contact(“guid”)]</p>

and this is what I see in the test email

session: [survey(“session id”)]
id: [survey(“id”)]
messageid: [invite(“messageid”)]
guid: [contact(“guid”)]

also I used this

<a href=”http://www.yurduminsani.com/pages/front/survey_start.aspx?guid=[contact(“guid”)]”>Click Here to Start the Survey [contact(“guid”)]</a><br />

and I get this:

Click Here to Start the Survey [contact(“guid”)]

with html:

<a href=”http://www.yurduminsani.com/pages/front/survey_start.aspx?guid=[contact(“guid”)]”>Click Here to Start the Survey [contact(“guid”)]</a><br />

also, from source code, I cannot insert codes from drop down after selecting source!!! When I select an item from drop down, it is not inserted into html source, I need to type it manually…

So, what am I doing wrong? Nothing seems to work here!

Thanks…

@Admin : It sounds like you’re trying to do a pretty advanced customization. I would reach out to our support team via chat or email with these questions!

      Hi Again,

now I am trying to pass a custom field from my contact list in the redirect url

      I tried multiple options

Post Survey Actions: Redirect to a URL: http://yourdomain.com

      Here:

I tried different options “Fields To Pass (optional)” and tried “URL Variable” & “Static Value (use default)” with “[contact(“rid”)]” in the value or variable name etc… all I got is this:

      http://www.mydomain.com/?rid=%5Bcontact%28%22rid%22%29%5D

Not sure why I am having so much difficulties here! It should be very simple and straight forward!

      Thanks…

        now, another issue :)

how can I pass a custom variable in my contact us in the survey end url

        I tried

Static Value (use default) = rid

        Variable Name = rid

        Default Value (opt) = [contact(“rid”)]

and this is what I get :)

        www.mydomain.com/survey_end.aspx?rid=%5Bcontact%28%22rid%22%29%5D

        also tried

        URL Variable = rid

        Variable Name = [contact(“rid”)]

        Default Value (opt) =

None works! Not sure why all these are impossible to achieve, it should be straightforward!

All I want here is pass some filed from my contact list in the redirect url…

ok, some of the merge fileds are working as expected (see http://help.surveygizmo.com/help/article/link/merge-code-intro#invite-contact-merge-codes)

          <p>

          guid: [contact(“guid”)]<br />
          inv: [contact(“inv”)]<br />
          custom 1: [contact(“custom 1”)]<br />
          custom 2: [contact(“custom 2”)]<br />
          name: [contact(“first name”)] [contact(“last name”)]<br />
          email: [contact(“email”)]

          </p>

          but not [invite(“messageid”)]!!!

I am trying to pass a uniqueid from SG + one of my fileds in the link

          www.mydomain.com/survey_start.aspx?msgid=[invite(“messageid”)]&inv=[contact(“inv”)]

then i will redirect user to actual sg survey link somehow, like

          survey.mydomain.com/s3/MySurvey?mid=[…]

and sg should find my contact using mid parameter, and use rid from contact, redirect after survey completed to

          www.mydomain.com/survey_start.aspx?msgid=[invite(“messageid”)]&inv=[contact(“rid”)]

          Thanks…

if only [invite(“survey_link”)] is working, then why did you put all variables here, inside merge fields?

I can select and insert them into email template (only design view works here, not source). If they will not work, whats the purpose of that combo box for merge fields?

please check your help page: http://help.surveygizmo.com/help/article/link/merge-code-intro#email

            I need this feature because:

            1. I want a link like: www.mydomain.com/survey_start.aspx?inv=[contact(“inv”)]&msgid=[invite(“messageid”)]
            2. Users click to this link, come to my web site, and then agree consent form and redirect to actual sg link, http://survey.mydomain.com/MySurvey?inv=xxx-xxxx-xxx
            3. after survey is completed, they will be redirected to www.mydomain.com/survey_start.aspx?rid=[contact(“rid”)]

where inv & rid are custom fields I upload with my contact list for survey invitation…

which has: guid, firstname, lastname, email, inv, rid

The problem I want to solve here is:

            • first they will come to my survey_start.aspx?inv=[INV],
            • then go to sg survey somehow, survey.mydomain.com/s3/MySurvey?inv=[INV],
            • then after survey is completed, they should be redirected to survey_end.aspx?rid=[RID]
            • and I want to use your email campaigns…

Right now I am stuck here!

Your help web page says everything is possible and thats why I activated my account since trial accound does not allow me to test these features…

            Thanks…
