We are Pro members. I’d like to send a survey to a bunch of institutions, with more than one respondent at each institution. I’d like them to write in what department they are with, in order to get their budget for translation services. Anyone have a good idea how to manage that without having to do a lot of hand sorting the data after the fact?
Is there any way to avoid having respondents write-in the department? i.e. by using a drop-down menu question with predetermined answer options?
Any time you are collecting open-ended data like that and need to categorize it, you will need to do manual data massaging. SurveyGizmo does offer an open-text analysis tool that will help with this, but it still involves some manual effort:
