[Solved] Is it possible to set the default answer to just the first answer option in a dropdown menu list?

I am trying to carry over an answer from a previous dropdown menu into the first answer option in a subsequent dropdown menu list. I am have tried using a merge code in the default answer input, but this results in all three of the dropdown menus being changed to the previous answer.

I’m attaching two screenshots which illustrate my issue. The first, 1 – Harvest County shows the first dropdown. The second, 2 – Hunt County, shows the dropdown menu list with the default answer set with a merge code from the first dropdown. As you can see, if populates all of the answer options with the first answer.

    Hi Luke,

    I’m by no means an expert with Javascript but I think something like this might work:

    $SG(document).ready(function(){
    $SG(‘ID of the specific dropdown menu’).val(“ID of the option that should be selected”);
    });

    Hope that helps!

      Thanks Lola. I considered a question group but we are also using the feature within the drop-down menu list that prohibits duplicate answers within the list.

      Java would be an interesting option, any idea how that might look?

        Hi Luke,

        This is not currently an available feature for the drop-down menu list – the default answer option will apply to all menus.

        There is maybe a custom option (javascript) that can accomplish this, you may also consider a different question type – maybe a Custom Group question with three separate drop down menu questions as sub questions.

        Hope that helps!
