Internet Explorer (desktop) Long Running Script Issue

We have a site which has a page with a javascript embedded survey. This works fine in Chrome, Edge, Safari etc but in IE we are seeing an issue.

The user clicks a call to action and then they are taken to the page with the embedded survey. The CTAs are basic hyperlinks to open the page. However, once clicked there is a significant delay and then clicking after a few seconds the message that the site is “not responding due to a long running script”.

Accessing the survey page directly the page loads.

This did previously work in Internet Explorer – it is a recent issue that was first reported a week ago.

I am trying to understand if it is possible that the script might error if the user is coming in from a different page?

Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

    Hi Steve,

It’s a bit difficult to diagnose this without looking at the site and survey and I haven’t personally run into an issue like this. I suggest reaching out to SurveyGizmo Support as they will be able to troubleshoot directly and help you determine whether this is a general issue or something specific to your implementation/survey:
