How to use Merge Codes to create dynamic outbound links

0

Hi there,

I’m trying to use hidden values and merge codes to refer people who come into the survey with some personal info in the query string, so that we can track them when they leave the survey.

The [url(“”)] stuff is working, the values are being stored and hidden, but the problem I’m having is creating the links using the information from the merge codes.

My URL’s, on the completion page, look like this:

 <a href=”http://toad.focusrite.com/review.php?product=[url(“product”)]&id=[url(“email”)&url=https://www.amazon.com/review/review-your-purchases?ie=UTF8&channel=YACC&ref_=ya_review_purchases”>Leave a review on Amazon</a><br /><a href=”http://toad.focusrite.com/review.php?product=[url(“product”)]&id=[url(“email”)&url=http://www.bhphotovideo.com”>Leave a review on B&H</a><br /><a href=”http://toad.focusrite.com/review.php?product=[url(“product”)]&id=[url(“email”)&url=http://www.guitarcenter.com”>Leave a review on Guitar Center</a><br /><a href=”http://toad.focusrite.com/review.php?product=[url(“product”)]&id=[url(“email”)&url=https://www.amazon.com/review/review-your-purchases?ie=UTF8&channel=YACC&ref_=ya_review_purchases”>Leave a review on Amazon</a><br /><a href=”http://toad.focusrite.com/review.php?product=[url(“product”)]&id=[url(“email”)&url=http://www.musiciansfriend.com”>Leave a review on Musician’s Friend</a><br /><a href=”http://toad.focusrite.com/review.php?product=[url(“product”)]&id=[url(“email”)&url=http://www.samash.com”>Leave a review on Sam Ash</a><br /><a href=”http://toad.focusrite.com/review.php?product=[url(“product”)]&id=[url(“email”)&http://www.sweetwater.com”>Leave a review on Sweetwater</a><br />

The problem comes when I save it. If I view source, paste my links there, then save the ‘media’, the system seems to try and render the links for the WYSIWYG, and therefore as soon as it comes across the first quotation mark in a merge code it closes the href. The weird thing is, this worked fine when I first did it, but I’ve since moved the block and now every time I save the block it does the above. When the block was on a different page, the links all worked and carried the correct query strings. Is there any way I can work around this, or stop the block from ‘fixing’ my code? Nick

I think you can turn off the WYSIWYG editor by going into My Preferences > General, and then unchecking “Use HTML Editor when Editing Questions”. That should allow your HTML to be interpreted exactly as you have it.
