First question in email, rest online?

I built a survey with three questions (each 5 possible answers: very good to very bad).

To increase the response rate, I want to include the first question in the email.

I learned that you can include a parameter in the URL but didn’t figure out how to map that parameter to the actual question.

So the URLs i want to embed in the email would look like  to Q1=5, and clicking on one should make me go to the survey with Q1 already answered.

How can i set this up?

There is an article in the SurveyGizmo documentation that you might find useful –

This is great John, thanx a lot.

I got it working by inserting the Reporting Value (1) instead of the displayed text (“very good”).

      A followup question:

I guess that customers would still have to press SUBMIT before this answer is recorded?

Is there a way that this first response is recorded even if they do nothing else?

        Hi Gijs,

So it looks like you have the process down of using the url variable, now you need to setup how the survey receives it.

One route is to set the default value of the first question to a merge code. The merge code for a URL variable is [url(“xxx”)]. In your case since you are using “?Q1” then you would set the default value to [url(“Q1″].

Now the one thing you need to do is to make sure the value you are assigning to Q1 matches up with the value of the answer option.

        For example –

I set the radio button question to have a default answer of:

Then I would build out the urls as …

(%20 is an html encoded character for spaces)

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to me.
