After I create a survey and collect some responses, is it possible to change the settings to not collect IP addresses and location for future participants, or would I have to create a new survey?

My survey currently collects IP addresses and location information. We did not realize this would happen and our IRB has not granted approval for this. Is it possible to revise an existing survey so that responses going forward will not collect this information?  Or would I have to create a new survey?  I tried to edit the existing survey but could not do it. I got the message “One or more of the teams you entered does not exist”. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi  Ashley,

Members of the Community respond to questions as their time and expertise allow.  I am not sure that too many members have experience with this, so if you need an answer soon you might want to consider contacting SurveyGizmo support with your query – https://community.surveygizmo.com/email-a-support-hero/

I’ve reviewed the documentation (https://help.surveygizmo.com/help/article/link/anonymous-surveys) and it does not indicate whether switching to ANONYMOUS RESPONSES would have any affect on an ongoing survey.

You also might want to consider conducting a small-scale experiment with a one/two question test survey.

      Hi Jim,

Thanks for your response.  I did get in touch with SurveyGizmo via chat just now.  I have to try something they suggested tomorrow when my colleague is available to change it.  If it works I will post the answer in case this happens to any other community members in the future.

      Best,

      Ashley
