Best design for event based surveys?

We are planning to use SG to fire off a survey via API when a certain event occurs in our system. The survey will be created ahead of time and it will be registered within our system. The message will be sent to an individual recipient when the event occurs – the event will be similar to a case closing within our system and us wanting to survey the client of their experience.

I’m still a rookie and am confused about campaigns, contacts and messages. What is the best way to set this up so we can still look at the aggregate data for the survey? My biggest point of confusion is the campaign. Do we need to create an individual campaign each time the event occurs? Or is it possible to simply add the contact, create the message and send without a new campaign?
